Cove Arm Lake& Campground and Crane Falls Lake, just down the Snake River from Bruno Dunes State Park and lakes, are shown on Google Maps as 1 hour 43 min up I84 from Twin.  Fishing for bass, bluegill, some trout (and hopefully Crappie) has been good recently and access is easy.  

With the water levels, temps, fires and smoke issues, this fishout had to be moved to where we have a good chance of catching fish easily and safely. Float tubes, pontoons, boats and wading can all work on these waters.  Unimproved camping, a pit toilet at Cove Arm and some space at Bruno Dunes full campground were available when last checked and should be on Sat. 8/31.  There are many reviews of these lakes as great places to take the kids to learn with normally little to moderate use, peace and quiet?
