Magic Valley Fly Fishers Monday June 7, 2021, Update.

Good evening. Wednesday June 16 will be our next meeting at the Mountain View Barn. It will be our first June meeting in the nine years I have been in the club. We will also have a general meeting the third Wednesday in July 7/ 21, and August 8/18, as well as all third Wednesdays through the fall and winter. Now that we have a good stable home for our meetings, it makes sense this new summer. “The times they are a changin” in many ways. New members and regulars alike have asked for more time to get to know one another (again) and be more involved. The more meetings, the higher the probability we will each be able to make some during the year. They give us better in person communication now that we can do that again more safely. We are looking at going back to a second, no speaker, meeting each month for open fly tying, classes, workshops, cribbage, and storytelling as was gaining interest and attendance in the fall of 2019. Please take our survey at the meeting.

New and ongoing projects started “pre-Covid” are now continuing in whatever manner makes sense. Making sense for the club out of current info and what is coming is our challenge. Come and help us make more happen now that we can. We need more participation. Without you, it won’t happen. And it’s fun! Many of the functions we could plan for well in advance like speakers, project details and interaction with other groups like I.D.F.G. are now done quickly by phone and text with even e-mail being too slow. E-mailing a lot per month isn’t possible for me now so please participate at the meetings. The food & drinks are great and there will be presentations even when I can’t send notices weeks early. I may remind you to come see what’s on.

Dues are again payable online, by check to Box 1037 and at the meetings. Please join or renew if you haven’t. All positions are open and need to be filled for 2022 and beyond. Your club needs your new and old ideas, knowledge, skills and work to continue to promote, protect and enhance fly fishing and fisheries for us all. We’d like to have team captains of fish-outs, tying, fisheries, events & others reporting each month.

I need 3 to? members to help with our club yarn and regular rods and show the kids why fly casting is so much fun. Call Bryan if you can help.

More updates and discussions on what’s ahead along with just talking fly fishing. Maybe a speaker. The day will be hot, the Barn cool, the hatches huge, and you’ll need a cool one to relax and tell your story! See you all there. Thanks, call/txt me anytime, Bryan 208-934-6405
